Helping people with a history of serious mental illness re-join society

De Bieweg is a community mental health service model that helps people with a history of serious mental illness re-join society and maintain their place in it. De Bieweg provides opportunities for their members to live, work, and learn, while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support. De Bieweg addresses the devastating impact of serious mental illness. They are inspired with the belief that people living with mental illness can be active participants in their own and each other’s recovery. Each year, over 150 members come to De Bieweg to contribute their talents, learn new skills, access opportunities and forge new friendships.

De Bieweg creates a climate that transforms lives. Our members, in partnership with staff, operate employment, education, and wellness programs. They perform several activities, including administrative support, food preparation, and more.

Members develop social network and experience fewer hospitalizations and improved overall health. Increased fulfilment, sense of purpose, and stability inevitably follow.

People with complex psychological problems are guided in the home context. The “mobile long-term care team” is committed to expanding and strengthening the natural network. With the effect: clients indicate that their quality of life increases: they are psychologically stronger and feel less lonely.
