Within this theme, researchers are developing knowledge about analysing (raw) material flows; organising collaboration across the whole value chain; the collection, re-use, and marketing of waste materials; developing new models for financing and investing in required new infrastructure (e.g., energy), and guidelines to assist SMEs in what to do.
The Circular Economy is a critical theme for companies in production and trade, and thus relevant for future employees and our students. Because value chains cross borders, this issue is especially international by nature. This theme is of strategic importance for the Rotterdam region as it is a core focus of the Roadmap Next Economy. The Circular Economy presents opportunities for all industries, not just manufacturing, but petrochemicals, construction, agriculture and horticulture.
