At Home in Language

Already in early childhood, children differ significantly in their language acquisition, as can be seen in variations of vocabulary sizes during elementary school. Comprehensive support of children at schools and at home, acknowledging families’ homes as the most influential environment for child development, is considered a promising strategy to closing young children’s language and literacy gaps.

Goalsetting

In this PhD research, first-year students from sixteen study programmes at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences take part in interventions aimed at increasing their study success and well-being.

Custom made

The aim of the project Custom Made (Added Value to the Approach for Language Stimulation and Working on Effect during Routines with Parent-Child Programmes) is to explore how programmes that encourage low-educated parents to stimulate the early linguistic and literacy development of children can be better tailored to the needs of participating families.
