Ton Bakker is director of the training institute Psy-Ger-On, which, among other trainings, provides postgraduate multidisciplinary courses in the field of psychogeriatrics. As a teacher at Regional Institutions for Continuing Education and Training (RINO) - for continued education and training in GGZ - he is involved in (academic) postgraduate training for physicians' elderly care specialists, GZ-psychologists and nursing specialists. He is chairman of several nationwide projects, including The Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG) and Actiz, for the (psycho-)geriatric education of medical specialists and vocational nurses.
