Healthcare Innovation with Technology

Tackling complex issues with collaborative research

The research programme 'Healthcare Innovation with Technology' focuses on innovation and improvement of healthcare and (experienced) quality of life through the use of technology. In practice, the programme concerns designing, developing, and/or implementing technical resources that support healthcare innovation.

It is important that the application of a technological system or instrument is experienced as valuable, supportive, or relieving by its (intended) users. Users of technology can refer to professionals in care, people with a disability, people with a chronic condition or illness, or people surrounding patients or clients.

An important theme to this programme of research is Gerontechnology, building on a long-term collaboration with the professors working in the research programmes 'Integrated care for the elderly' and 'Transitions in Care', and the targeted elderly people themselves. International collaboration is established through the International Society of Gerontechnology.
