Patricia Vuijk earned her PhD in 2006 for her study of gender-specific pathways of development towards psychopathology for young people. She studied orthopedagogics at Leiden University and also took Primary School Teacher training at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. She worked as a primary school teacher in special education for several years.
