Henk Rosendal studied Health Sciences in Maastricht, having worked as an A- and B-nurse before. After graduation, he worked as a policy advisor Hospital and Top Healthcare at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS). He worked as a researcher and head of the Health Technology Assessment sector at TNO. In 2002, he completed his PhD-thesis at Utrecht University, which investigated the effectiveness of transmural care. He was also head of sectorial policy at the National Association for Home Care (now called ActiZ) and was chairman of the Primary Nursing department of V&VN Nursing (Verpleegkundigen & Verzorgenden Nederland). Between 2005 and 2012, he taught the course People with Chronic Diseases at Leiden University of Applied Sciences, and since 2010 he works as an applied research professor at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.
