Dr. Koen Dittrich

Professor Circular Economy

Koen Dittrich is Professor of Circular Economy at Research Centre Business Innovation. He conducts research on new, circular value models for SMEs in the Rotterdam-The Hague metropolitan area in order to arrive at sustainable solutions for waste and resource issues and emission problems.

The lectorate concentrates on developing sustainable models for collaboration and value models for valorisation of biomass and other by-products and waste of SMEs in the food and manufacturing industries. 

At Rotterdam University of Applied Research, one of the intended goals of the lectorate is to increase awareness among young students of a complete value creation model in which nature, environment and social values play a role.

About him

In addition to the lectorate Circular Economy of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Dittrich also has an appointment as assistant professor at the Rotterdam School of Management. Previously he was employed as Professor of Circular Economy at Aeres University of Applied Sciences Dronten and as scientific researcher at TNO. In 2004 he obtained his doctoral degree from Technical University Delft, researching innovation networks.

During the past few years Dittrich has focused his research on sustainable business model innovation and circular economy, for which he has received several research grants. The focus of his research is in particular on new models for collaboration and value models.
