Have you been diagnosed with ADHD? Would you like to gain a better understanding of yourself and learn how to manage your ADHD in your studies? Do you struggle with concentration, and procrastination? Do you struggle getting motivated? Would you like to share your experiences with others who have ADHD and find out what solutions work for them? If so, take the elective course Studying with ADHD.
The principles of this course are:
- Focus on possibilities, not problems.
- Your brain becomes better at the things it does often.
- By understanding the driving force behind your behaviour, feelings and thoughts, you can influence them more easily.
- Do what works. Remember that not everyone is the same — not everyone with ADHD is the same.
Please note that the focus of the course is on understanding, not on practical skills.
Even if you have already done an ADHD programme at another organisation, where you have learned a lot about yourself, the course can still be useful. To make the course successful, you must be willing to work on yourself. It is also important to take part in lessons and hand in your homework on time to get good results.
- You will know the different types of ADHD and which one is most relevant to you;
- You will know what ADHD is and how it affects your brain;
- You will know the 4-step learning process and how it relates to procrastination;

You must attend all course lessons. If you miss one class, you must do a replacement assignment. After each class, you will receive homework, which you must hand in during the next class. The course is an elective and is worth 2 credits.
The course includes a reader. This has exercises and theory for each lesson. We'll email you the details in advance. You can get the informative book that the course is based on at the library or buy it on bol.com.
To register, first schedule an intake interview with a student student counsellor. The counsellor will check if this elective is the right one for you.
