FOCUS on Horizon

Experimental learning community

Publication date: 01 February 2015

The Institute for Social Study programmes (ISO), Horizon Youth Welfare Work and Education and the lectureship Public Care and Prevention for Young people have joined forces. Since 1 February 2015, they have formed the experimental learning community FOCUS on Horizon.

Show:

Based on the experiences with this experimental community, ISO has been building on forty other learning communities in the school year 2015-2016. The objective for FOCUS on Horizon has risen from the need of ISO to embed components.

With respect to the school year 2016-2017, the agreement was made to work on an increased quality of the theses and their supervision and to select the content of the topics for theses more carefully than before. This need was expressed both by ISO and by Horizon Youth care and Education. Within FOCUS on Horizon, we deploy Professional Empowerment Coaching to coach youth professionals-in-training as a component of apprenticeship supervision towards a change in attitude within the following four Social Work task fields:

  1. Implementation in complex situations
  2. Working in and from labour organisations
  3. Working on professionalism and professionalisation, and specifically on the topic of relational autonomy
