Students have developed a prototype to measure whether nurses and physicians use sufficient disinfecting alcohol-based formulation and follow the protocol (perform it correctly and at the right time). A warning system is attached to it. The next step is to pilot test the innovation on a larger scale with more incubators. To achieve this aim, close collaboration with researchers and experts from the research programme Healthcare Innovations with Technology has been established.
Students work together on stimulating compliance with hand-hygiene procedures in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), part of the paediatric department at Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam.
