Read what our Alumnus had to say about his experience at RBS and the Master in Consultancy & Entrepreneurship.

    Why did you choose MCE?
For me, the MCE looked like an opportunity to build on the theoretical foundation of my Bachelor in International Management while adding an additional layer of practical experience that would allow me to bring forward ideas, test them, iterate on them, and present meaningful solutions.

What was special about the programme?
The MCE is not only about teaching theory. Instead, students are encouraged to gain practical experience by working on real-life challenges from companies across various industries.

What did you think of RBS and RUAS as a university?
The university was a pleasure to come to every day because the building is not only modern but also designed in a way that encourages creativity and learning through its large indoor trees, floor-to-ceiling windows, and collaborative group spaces.

What is the most important thing that you have learned while studying at RBS?
One of the most important things I learned at RBS is that creativity in solving problems has no real limits when supported by the right frameworks and collaboration. At the same time, every task required ownership and reflection in its approach. Both were continuously encouraged by the programme, which challenged us to question our own approaches, think critically about our decisions, and take responsibility for our work. This helped me grow both professionally and personally.

How did the programme prepare you for the professional field?
I learned how to manage the many expectations of different project stakeholders, whether they were teachers, group members, or company executives. Therefore, the programme further strengthened my ability to work in a versatile and hands-on way across different project environments.

For what types of companies or organisations can you carry out practical assignments?
Students have the opportunity to work with many different types of companies and organisations. For instance, I worked with a start-up festival to help develop a business model aimed at greater financial independence. I also supported the Rotterdam municipality in shaping a strategy for the future of its neighbourhoods and contributed to the development of a potential future retail strategy for a top-tier shopping centre in Germany.

Which company are you working for now?
I currently work for a consulting company in Munich with the mission of strengthening Europe’s long-term competitiveness as a business location.
