Why did you choose MCE?
I chose the Master in Consultancy and Entrepreneurship because I believed it was a great opportunity to gain strategic business knowledge by combining both consultancy and entrepreneurship. I wanted to understand not only how businesses operate, but also how to analyse challenges, identify opportunities, and develop solutions from a strategic perspective.
Coming from an accounting background, the programme allowed me to see business from a completely different angle. It helped me move beyond numbers and develop a broader understanding of strategy, innovation, and business development, which I believe will be valuable for any future business or venture I decide to pursue.
What was special about the programme?
What made the programme special was the balance between theory and practice. We were not only learning concepts in the classroom but also applying them to real projects with actual companies and organizations. This hands-on approach made the learning experience much more meaningful and realistic.
Besides that, the culture at Rotterdam Business School was excellent. The international environment, the diversity of perspectives, and the friendships I built during the programme are things I will never forget.
What did you think of RBS and RUAS as a university?
I believe that Rotterdam Business School and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences are highly professional institutions that genuinely care about their students. They consistently listen to student feedback, concerns, and ideas, and they are always looking for ways to improve the learning experience. Throughout my studies, I felt supported by both the university and the professors. That level of accessibility and willingness to listen is something that not every institution offers, and it made a significant difference in my overall experience.
What is the most important thing that you have learned while studying at RBS?
One of the most important things I learned was how to solve problems with a critical mindset. The programme taught me to approach challenges from different perspectives, combine theory with practical research, and focus on understanding the real needs of clients. Conducting market research, validating ideas, and testing solutions in real-world situations helped me understand that good recommendations are based on evidence rather than assumptions. That mindset is probably the most valuable lesson I am taking with me.
How did the programme prepare you for the professional field?
The programme prepared me extremely well for the professional world, especially for consultancy-related roles. It taught me to think like a consultant by asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, and digging deeper to uncover the root cause of a problem rather than focusing only on symptoms. Learning how to analyze situations, work with clients, and develop actionable recommendations gave me a professional perspective that is difficult to acquire through theory alone.
For what types of companies or organisations can you carry out practical assignments?
One of the strengths of the programme is that practical assignments can be carried out for almost any type of organization. Students have the flexibility to work with startups, small businesses, large corporations, non-profit organizations, and companies from a wide range of industries.
For example, when choosing a company for your thesis or consulting project, you have a lot of freedom to select an organization that matches your interests. I think this flexibility is important because it reflects the real world. You never know whether your future career will take you to a multinational corporation or to your own entrepreneurial venture, and the programme prepares you for both.
Which company are you working for now?
I am currently working in a commercial and sales role for a U.S.-based company called The Barcelona Trading Academy. Looking back, I believe that completing the master’s programme was one of the main reasons I was able to secure a position in this type of company. The tools, frameworks, and critical thinking skills I developed at Rotterdam Business School continue to help me in my day-to-day work, and I am very happy with the decision I made to pursue the programme.
