    Partially extended and improved English version of the article 'Ontregeling als esthetische ideologie, van Marinetti via experimentele kunsten, tegencultuur, neoliberalisme tot Trump', published in Metropolis M , no. 2/2025 , p. 46-48 Freeing oneself from rules and constraints has been an important aspect of the arts in their emancipation from authorities and regimes. But transgression and disruption can also easily become means to dubious ends. The deregulation of neoliberalism, the outside-the-box thinking of management culture, the revolutionary “everything must change” rhetoric of the extreme right.
