Your deadline depends on your nationality and residence status:
- EU / EEA applicants — 1 June
- Non-EU applicants outside the Netherlands — 1 April (early deadline required for visa processing)
- Non-EU applicants with a valid Dutch residence permit for study — 1 June
- Non-EU applicants changing their residence permit purpose to study — 1 June
- Non-EU applicants with a Dutch residence permit who do not require a study permit — 1 June
The 1 April deadline for non-EU applicants outside the Netherlands exists because RUAS needs time to apply for your student visa (MVV) and residence permit after you receive a conditional admission offer. Do not arrange a visa independently — RUAShandles this on your behalf.
Translation is not required if your diploma and transcript are issued in English, Dutch, German, French, or Spanish.
If your documents are in any other language, upload both the original and a certified translation by a sworn translator into English or Dutch. The same rule applies to non-EU applicants with expected graduation statement if you have not yet graduated.
Yes. You can apply as long as you will have completed all study requirements before 31 August. When your official diploma is issued — even if that happens after the programme has started — is not a problem; many institutions issue diplomas later in the autumn.
For non-EU applicants, if you are still graduating, before the relevant deadline, upload an expected graduation statement on official university letterhead. It must include:
- Your full name, date and place of birth
- Programme name and level of diploma
- Confirmation that all study requirements will be completed before 31 August
- The expected date of completion of all requirements (MM/YYYY is sufficient)
- Name, job title, and signature or stamp of the issuing official
Also upload a current transcript showing EC credits earned to date.
You do not need to wait for the diploma before starting the programme — your conditional admission stands once all requirements are completed on time.
Yes. Despite the field being labelled CV, this is where you must upload both your CV and your motivation letter. Both documents are required and both belong in this slot.
IMPORTANT: This slot can only be submitted once. Make sure both your CV and motivation letter are ready before you upload. You will not be able to add a missing document to this slot afterwards.
The oral assessment is a mandatory part of the STR admissions process for every applicant, regardless of nationality or background. It is not a formality — it carries the same weight as your documents in determining whether you receive a conditional admission offer.
It is a 20-minute online session in which you discuss a practice case study presented to you on the spot. It assesses your ability to express yourself professionally in English and to engage with complex, systems-level problems.
When will you be invited? Only once all your documents have been uploaded, submitted, and approved. Uploading your documents is step one — the assessment invitation follows only when your file is complete. Submit everything before the deadline to give yourself the best chance of being scheduled in time.
You will only receive an assessment invitation once all required documents have been uploaded, submitted, and approved by the admissions team. A partial or incomplete submission will not trigger an invitation — the review does not start until your file is complete.
First check that you pressed Submit on the final OSIRIS page — uploading alone does not submit your application. Then confirm all required documents are present. Check your spam folder for emails from @hr.nl.
Our admissions team will always give you a reason why a document was rejected. However, you can keep an eye out on this.

The CV slot requires both your CV and motivation letter. Upload both at the same time before submitting this slot — you cannot add to it afterwards.
- ID card back side missing, or place/country of birth not shown
Upload front and back; use your passport if your ID omits birth details.
- Diploma supplement instead of diploma
Upload the actual diploma certificate, not the supplement.
- Language test taken online or at home
Only tests taken at an accredited test centre are accepted.
- Language certificate expired
Your certificate must be valid on the programme start date, not the application date.
- Submit not pressed after upload
After every upload or replacement, go to the final OSIRIS page and click Submit.
You will receive a decision after your oral assessment. A positive outcome results in a conditional admission offer. Your enrolment becomes final once:
- Financial details of tuition fee payment have been updated in Studielink
- You have supplied us with original certified hardcopies of your diploma & transcript by
- Post
- In person
- University sent it straight to coia-admissions@hr.nl
