A Sustainable Relationship
The collaboration between RBS and PTI began over six years ago and has continued to grow ever since. What started with graduation internships and individual assignments has evolved into a partnership where students can work at PTI throughout the year.
“RBS students are given the opportunity to develop and work independently with us. They really become part of the team,” says Casper Duin, Managing Director of PTI.
Students from the Business IT & Management and Commercial Economics programmes at RBS are regularly active at PTI. This ranges from graduation internships to projects where multiple students collaborate on a complex challenge. The cooperation is intensive and structural:
“We ensure that there is always a supervisor available and we regularly evaluate how things are going. We give students a lot of independence while providing clear guidelines to help them succeed.”
Distinctive Qualities of RBS Students
According to PTI, RBS students are generally independent, technologically adaptive, and entrepreneurial.
“These are young people who not only understand new technologies but also bring them with them. They are often business-minded, which gives them a perspective that fits well with our organization.”
The IT market is both competitive and tight, meaning PTI is constantly on the lookout for new talent. By working with RBS, they can get to know young professionals early and guide their growth.
“Students don’t just bring knowledge but also fresh ideas and innovative solutions. That really gives us valuable information and new insights.”
Investing in Talent Pays Off
Recently, a group of third-year Business IT & Management students worked on a challenging assignment: cleaning up a large data set and creating a dashboard to help PTI analyze the data. The project was successfully completed and laid the foundation for further innovations within the company.
“What we invest in time and supervision, we get back many times over,” says Casper. “It not only provides us with concrete results but also the chance to identify potential employees and help them grow within our organization.”
Tips for Other Companies
PTI encourages other companies to also collaborate with RBS.
“It’s truly a win-win situation. You get the chance to exchange knowledge while giving the next generation a meaningful place in society. Of course, it requires attention and supervision, but it’s more than worth it.”
PTI emphasizes that while guidance is essential, students should also have the freedom to find their own way.
“Don’t let them go completely without support, but do give them space to develop themselves. After all, it’s about their academic credits and personal growth.”
A Professional Partnership
The collaboration between PTI and RBS is characterized by strong communication and a professional foundation.
“RBS does an excellent job in relationship management. Access to networks can sometimes be challenging, but with RBS communication runs smoothly, and we always work together with mutual commitment on great projects.”
The partnership between PTI and Rotterdam Business School demonstrates the value of working together to develop young talent while simultaneously creating innovative solutions.
